FWST: Horned Frogs drop tourney opener to Northwestern
SOUTH PADRE ISLAND -- Northwestern got 15 points from Jared Swopshire and turned up the defense on Friday, rolling to a 55-31 victory over TCU in the South Padre Island Invitational.
Northwestern (5-0) also got 12 points each from Drew Crawford and Reggie Hearn.
TCU had a difficult night from the field, as Northwestern held the squad to only 26.5 percent shooting overall, its worst figure of the season. TCU did manage to win the rebounding battle (38-33) while holding the Wildcats to only 38.3 percent shooting themselves.
But Northwestern outscored the Frogs by 26 points beyond the arc (6 of 19) and at the free-throw line (13 of 14). ...
