FORT WORTH – A 24-year-old Tyler man on probation for stealing more than $23,000 worth of phones from a Verizon store is now accused of stealing from the lockers of members of the TCU football team.

Vernell D. Richardson, who is not affiliated with Texas Christian University, was arrested Wednesday morning on a burglary of building warrant upon reporting to his probation officer in Tyler, officials said.

He is accused of stealing seven cellphones and a set of Beats headphones from the lockers of TCU football players as they practiced on Sept. 11, according to an arrest warrant affidavit.

This worthless (censor) has earned himself an extended stay at the 'Walls Unit'. TCU has apparently

been negligent in instituting proper security procedures. The ability to stroll into a locker room

unencumbered is unacceptable.

FWST: Patterson's role in locker room theft explained

By MUCK ANGLE

TCU officials are commenting on head football coach Gary Patterson's role in the recent theft of cell phones and other personal property from the team's locker room.

"He had no role in it," said TCU Chancellor Victor Boschini when asked.

However, some are concerned about the lack of security measures and question if Patterson, TCU's all-time winningest football coach, should assume responsibility and possibly be admonished or even terminated.

"No, that is a TCU issue, not a Gary Patterson issue," Boschini said. "We have addressed it internally."

Makes me think I should try harder to get into practices, well at least try.
