Has the Big 12 commissioner changed his stance on College Football Playoff expansion?

BY DREW DAVISON

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby hasn’t been a fan of expanding the playoffs.

As recently as the Big 12 championship game earlier this month, Bowlsby said: “You have to be slow to move away from something that’s been that successful.

“Will it ever happen? I don’t know. I would never say never. But we haven’t had any legitimate conversations about it to this point in time.”

No. He's changing what he says in public now that the two stuck-up conferences who think they own the Rose Bowl know what it feels like to get screwed over by a stupid system and are thus willing to consider expansion. The Big XII has, I have no doubt, always known that the playoff needed to be larger than four.

If we didn't have 5 teams chasing 4 playoff spots then we wouldn't need the committee. But the committee helps keep interest in college football the last month of the season, right?

Wrong. College football doesn't need this committee. It needs a championship tournament consisting of conference championship game winners. HG73 out.

Speaking of Boren, he is being accused of leaving OU in a financial mess by new President James Gallogly.
Boren says finances aren't that bad, but the two have been feuding since the June board meeting.
Maybe a juicy story is lurking, but we shall see what we shall see.

there are a few scandal situations as few in some departments where in appropriate behavior by staff and donors was allowed to go on unchecked.

Yeah, like wondering which conference is going to get jobbed in favor the SEC runner-up on the basis of spurious circular logic is the most exciting part of the game. Try inherently meaningful conference title races in every region of the country then compare. No one outside of the South will want to go back.
