Do players still have to go to class? I don’t believe I have seen “grades” as a reason someone does not play since college free agency started!
well even look at our baseball program and how its changed.

When my son played at TCU - he got a finance degree, his roommate was an accounting major. Even just a few years ago, our starting rotation were all getting degrees from Neely.

Now when you go to the preseason banquet and the team introduces themselves - Loos tells them to not say their major unless they are NOT a communications major.

Schools have built curriculums to get players through their eligibility window and hopefully a degree so they count toward the positive side of the metric - and could not care less if they get any value from their degree. Sports are a full time, 12 month job now and we can degree programs to make it work.

I was among those standing in Ford Stadium chanting "Stay Fran, Stay!" Fat lot of good it did. But, we got Patterson out of it, so we came out winners in the end.

Bama and Aggie? Not so much, although Fran wound up with lots of spending money...
That is my position in a nutshell. People always think they know exactly how it is now and what’s going to happen, but it rarely works out that way.

I haven’t either. Strange, isn’t it?

I think with all the online classes these days the school aspect of being a “student-athlete” for some of these kids is as big of a joke as you can imagine. Wouldn’t surprise me if some never set foot in a classroom.
Not that many schools ever listed "grades" in a situation where it was really a grades issue previously, if we are being honest about it. It was often something else. Unfortunately.

The programs that I am familiar with seem to have the kids going to class either in person or on campus. (its really not either or , its a mix if they have a class that allows zoom on their schedule).

But y'all are right, kinda no way to know.

Know of youngsters (extended family/friends kids) who are scattered along 6 P4 schools currently. multiple sports, including football. All are going to class. Also, though, all have NIL deals. Kinda crazy.

What was that "I didn't come to play school..." thing?

Wasted opportunity if no class. Second team players, for sure, had better go; odds are not in their favor for big payday after college.
