Can TCU football shut down No. 10 BYU’s rapidly improving quarterback?
Steven Johnson
A lot went wrong for TCU football the last time it faced BYU as the Horned Frogs fell 44-13 in Provo last November.
One of the main reasons for the defeat was the performance of Cougars’ quarterback Bear Bachmeier. A true freshman at the time, Bachmeier had his coming out party against TCU with 296 passing yards, 59 rushing yards and two total touchdowns while posting a quarterback rating of 94.3. It was the highest QBR of the season for Bachmeier.
A year older now as a sophomore, Bachmeier appears to have taken a leap in his development which only makes the 6 p.m. Saturday showdown at Amon G. Carter Stadium more daunting for TCU (2-2, 0-1).
