FWST: Breaking down the TCU-Texas game
First quarter
Texas was moving with relative ease on its first drive of the game when Jason Verrett stepped in front of David Ash's pass for his sixth interception of the season. TCU came out firing on its first play as Trevone Boykin hit Corey Fuller for a 35-yard gain and Matthew Tucker eventually scored to give the Frogs a 7-0 lead.
Second quarter
Ash fumbled as he [ James'd ] back to pass and Stansly Maponga recovered at the Texas 16. Tucker's 11-yard run set up his 1-yard scoring run to give TCU a 14-3 lead with 1:40 left in the half. Backup Case McCoy replaced Ash and was promptly hit hard by Devonte Fields and Maponga.
Third quarter
TCU rushed on all nine plays of its drive in the middle of the third quarter, including a 36-yard keeper around the left side by Boykin and a 10-yard run by Aundre Dean that set up Jaden Oberkrom's 18-yard field goal for a 17-6 lead with 3:48 left in the quarter. ...
