After a slew of firsts in 2018, TCU aims for seconds and thirds in 2019

The season didn't end how the players and coach genuinely thought it would, with a run in the NCAA Tournament, but TCU basketball undoubtedly turned a huge corner in 2018.

The team's success (including its NIT championship a year ago) has altered the perception of the program on the outside and invigorated the expectations, excitement and most importantly the interest on the inside with the student body.

Syracuse to the Sweet Sixteen...We couldn't get just a normal #11...nooo. Oh well, although the loss is still hard to take, Syracuse's success helps our outside perception, and thus recruiting. Should be a really interesting year next year with all the new talent coming in.

I don't think the fact we lost to Syracuse (and not a team that lost in the 2nd round) makes one bit of difference for our perception or recruiting.

Our recruiting is on the upswing and the perception is we're an up-and-coming program that isn't going back to where we came from any time soon. That would be our perception had we lost to the worst #11 seed in the history of the tournament.

Makes it even more maddening. We had a chance to win that.

13 turnovers
3/17 from 3pt
39.6% fg %

After having a shooting drought the prior 3-4 games you would think we could game plan to drive the basket more.

Very winnable game.

Does our defense getting better correlate to a drop in fg and 3pt %? Are the guys getting tired defending and are unable to accurately shoot 3's anymore?

The boys are in great shape - playing aggressive defense should not matter, much. It'll help when the bench is available on a more regular basis.

A couple of tweaks here and there, it'll be better. I'm excited for the future, and not disappointed in this two year turnaround.

The Syracuse team peaked at the right time, and was really good on defense. Obviously, no disgrace to lose to them in a close game; just disappointing.

Go Frogs!

Very excited about the depth the frogs will bring into the 2018-19 season. Of course we never know with injuries, but going into the season the frogs should be in a position to have the best depth they have had in years. Quality depth too.

Every season has peaks and valleys. You hope you are on an upward swing when you start playoffs. We hit a dip at a bad time, apparently.

Are KDub's and Brod's replacements currently on roster? Or are we looking at a new signee(s) making immediate impact at those positions?

Need a big man to do damage down low.

Angus McWilliams seems to be the next Vlad.

As far as Kenny Hustle, Shawn Olden and Noi seems to have the attitude to do so but not sure they can physically.

Kevin Samuel's physique looks like he could be the true big man we did not have with Vlad and Hamdy.

Believe Frogs recruited best Juco player, Yuat Alok, who is 6'11" and very athletic. We will have some bigger bodies next season.

How do you replace KW is the biggest question? His athleticism and ability to go get the ball is going to be hard to replace. It’s probably going to take the combined effort of multiple players to match what he brought to the table. Also, Noi was an incredible freshman and is going to be a star in the B12, but he was completely lost on defense. He also struggles putting the ball on the floor at times, kind of like Parrish. Work on those 2 areas and look out.

We supposedly have four big men coming in for next season. Are any of them real differencemakers? That'll determine where we go the next couple of years. We need good health for Jaylen Fisher too.

Alok is highly thought of and Angus and Kevin have had time to acclimate themselves so we should be better on the interior. The key is how will the staff use Archie and how effective he will be. I think Barlow is a candidate for a RS with the guys we will have inside.

Is Angus is the kid that the coaches felt would have been a top 50 player in the country if he was from the US or was that someone in this class?

That’s the one. Watching him during warmups you could tell he’s athletic. Needs to get stronger from looking at him but he looks to be a good one.

I'd like to thinks this season is like our Fiesta Bowl season.

The team will have the bitter taste of defeat and will be stronger and better because of it.

We are destined to follow it up with greatness.
