FWST: A day after being let go, Gary Patterson shows up to work for TCU football

There are people on this board (who I trust, although I've never met them) that are much more on the inside than me that have confirmed that it is true. Don't know what the terms of the arrangement are but safe to say he isn't getting the ball 25 times per game.
Lol…well first, everyone on this board over hypes their level of “inside” ness.

Second, Kendre Miller doesn’t have handlers according to this forum and he gets ball about same amount (in Evans absence). And he’s about just as effective as Evans..

The new coach, if Evans is here, will feed that kid the ball as much as possible. That’s my belief.

So they are just going to discard Miller and let him ride the bench? As you say, he's about as effective as Evans, even more effective if you strictly go by stats.

In all likelihood it's a moot point.

Lol…You’re missing the point. There is a starter and a backup. Like Zeke Elliot and Pollard. They’ll both get lots of touches but Evans will get bulk. He’s simply better.

If one guy is getting 25 carries, the backup is barely playing, if playing at all. Evans/Miller/Demercado/Foster are averaging 26.75 carries per game this year.

You said no coach would give Evans less than 25 per game. LOL!!!

I loved Gary’s enthusiasm, energy and passion as Head Coach. I always hoped that would not dissipate and lead to early retirement, assuming that would be the end to his tenure. I will miss that aspect. Name another coach that appears to love it that much. Saban on the other hand often looks like misery.

I think Gary has looked miserable on the sidelines for a good while now.

He was given the option to finish. Perhaps his knee jerk reaction of wasn't really what he wanted to do after he had some time to think about it.
Perhaps will he stick around for a game or two, or the rest of the season? Not sure if that was put out there, or if this is strictly just a one game transition.

Retired...You communicate in a lot of absolutes. "Everything" is not business to me. But "business" is business to me.
When you pay a guy $6 million to coach a kids game, and he quits....then that guy forfeits his access.

If he wanted to continue providing his imprint he should have stayed the last four games and rode it out.

He didn't , so he has to go. It is not personal against Gary. Gary has nothing to do with it. It applies to anyone on staff. You quit, you're gone.

And as for "being in a locker room" - was in and at every TCU Football practice, game, locker room, everyday...from 1990 until 1995...so yeah, I have seen how "things" work.
So you are a bank teller I am guessing - for sure an employee not an owner of a business based on that perspective

Beware the move of staying around once you're gone. See Jay Leno as a great example. Have the previous person with a foot in the door does confuse the situation. Gary was right to move on...but sticking around will spook others thinking about taking the job...for good reason.

I love Gary, but I don't want him around for a year or two while things settle.

Perfect, I love it. It is very old school and there is nothing wrong with it in my book. He is devoted to his team, the coaches and the players and he wasn't going to let them down. Don't worry naysayer, Patterson will step aside when the new guy arrives. This just was us old guys do.

my father worked for one company all his working career and when they decided to mutually part ways to make way for some changes he didn't go in the next week to make sure the company was still functioning properly and he was depression era old school

bro, why are you already this angry?

Imagine your boss was in charge of a project this week. He gets fired and youre left to finish the project in a short amount of time which you werent prepared for. The boss understands that, and comes back just to give the details of what he was leading and you were helping to work on. Now, you can look over the notes and throw them away or use them on Saturday as help.

Calm down Alice.

so you are telling me the guy in your illustration didn't have his key card cancelled, security box up his stuff, and his emails and systems access shut down?
