2026 TCU football preview: How will the defense replace two NFL linebackers?​

There might not have been a better linebacker duo in the country last season than TCU standouts Kaleb Elarms-Orr and Namdi Obiazor.

Elarms-Orr was a first team All-Big 12 selection that led the conference in tackles and was picked in the fourth round of the NFL draft by the Buffalo Bills. Obiazor was honorable mention All-Big 12 and went in the sixth round to the New England Patriots.

Losing two NFL-caliber linebackers leaves a gaping hole in the middle of the Horned Frogs’ defense, but the program feels good about one of the spots being filled with a rising veteran. It’s Obiazor’s replacement that poses the biggest questions.

I'm all for Noriel Dominguez & Sam Haley starting 100% of the games with Grambling & Arkansas State.

As a football progrum, you have to start identifying who your meanest players are early on.

Question # 1 Who are the probable NFL players on the roster???

# 2 Who are the top 5 players with a legitimate mean streak???

Thanks Brewing Frog & LisaLT. I am astonished that not a soul would not acknowledge a ? regarding who are TCUs probable NFL players AND who are the meanest players on the team.

The NFL players are..... and I'll list the ones that the coaching staff is currently not paying attention to and failing to develop. As a reminder, I say these guys are NFL and will not start because a failure to communicate by coaching staff.

Terry Shelton WR. Yes. I understand he has had a lot of drops in practices. It is the coaches job to send the guy to a mentalist or counsel him on how to clear his mind to stop having drops. Shelton is the most physically gifted WR on the roster. If he does not get significant snaps this year, he will transfer and be top 3 in the nation in receiving yards ALA Cam Cook.

Tristan Johnson DT. In limited snaps last year, this guy showed better hand fighting skills, better body on OL skills and better pass rush skills than hunky dorey Din Mbuh & Markis Deal. Start the dude or deal with mediocrity. To be clear, the supposed starting DTs are pedestrian at best. Play Tristan Johnson, an NFL player.

Carter Buck, Woodfork, and Jesse Ford DEs over Oyewale and Zach Chapman. Please, for at least the first 3 games. Buck, Woodfork and Ford are probable NFL. Chapman and Oyewale are not NFL.

And the zinger is Keylan Abrams LB over ANY of the other LBs. This includes Max Carroll and Michael Short. Abrams is a virtual NFL LB Matt Milano Clone. Short and Carroll are not NFL.

Now..... who are the mean guys. You have to admit; nasty and mean have gone out of fashion with TCU Football.
