Why would an Austrian pop singer singing about an Austrian classical composer be an appropriate walk-up song for a German QB?

Austrians are ethnic Germans. Only the nationality is different. And during the First and Third German Reichs, even the difference in nationality disappeared. Austria was part of Germany.
