Ronald “Ronnie” William Clinkscale, who passed away July 10, served more than 30 years as a trustee at TCU, where he was a noted football player during his college days.

Clinkscale was known as the fastest player for the Horned Frogs in the 1950s, TCU said.

As a quarterback and running back for TCU, Clinkscale, a former all-state player for Fort Worth’s Arlington Heights High School, grew his athletic skills to play several seasons of professional football in Canada before he launched a successful accounting career in North Texas.

RIP.
He was next door to my mother in law at his nursing care facility. We spoke to GP briefly when he came in to visit him. Great Frog.

One of my very earliest Horned Frog memories is seeing Ronnie Clinkscale at AGCS or listening to his exploits in the games on the old brown bakelite kitchen radio at home. A good quarterback, a good man.

He lived next door to my parents when I was at TCU. He was a quiet, humble person. He was very friendly and for several years I had no idea about his connection to TCU.
I've heard that same kind of comment from others...people who knew him well after his TCU career and who had no idea he'd been something of a local celebrity in the 50's. A kind man, a true gentleman, whose value system did not have himself at #1.
