TCU launches national search to replace athletic director of Big 12 program

by Shomial Ahmad

TCU has selected a national executive search firm to find its new athletic director and announced an interim director days after news broke that TCU Athletic Director Jeremiah Donati will head east this January to direct the athletic program at the University of South Carolina.

TurnkeyZRG, which specializes in collegiate athletics, will head the search that will involve input from TCU leaders and campus stakeholders. The firm worked with TCU on previous searches, and has experience hiring for other high-profile positions, including the NCAA president and Big 12 commissioner.

A search committee has already been established, according to a TCU press release.

I hope we hire someone who will extend the SMU series.
Why? When schedule doesn't matter, I am starting to think the same thing as many others. have a good win/loss record and get in the playoffs. Schedule ACU, Rhode Island, and Tarleton State. get to 10-2 and in the playoffs. But, seriously for a rivalry game yes keep SMU.

Big 12 ,ACC and Big 10 all should go to 8 game Conference schedule if SEC won't budge from it. Don't like it, but why should other P4 Conferences cannibalize themselves with 9 games while SEC gets an extra cream puff game around week 10 or 11?

Because the SEC is so hard and demanding. Like the other conferences are not?

A lot of good it did the SEC this year, huh?

Why not model after the Big 10 and play nine conference games? They got four in, and in my opinion it's a weaker conference than the SEC.

The ACC plays 8 league games too, but nobody seems to have a problem with that (even though that's a far weaker league). Only the SEC. Because SEC.

The 8 game vs 9 game schedule is way overblown. When it comes to playoff selections, it's irrelevant. Complaining for the sake of complaining.

Wex, it's simple math. Yes, there is a benefit to keeping or going to an 8 game conf schedule. Everybody was wondering what would happen to the "help the lil sisters of the poor" games. well, I think they just got more scheduled. Why even schedule an out of conf P4? Play cupcakes for tune ups. If you want out ooc p4, make it the second game, followed by another cupcake.

Why take the risk. It is a model that has worked well for decades.

I don't see the "risk" that others do. I think the "risk" thing is just used to claim that if "team X is you don't like plays 8 conference games and makes the playoffs, then team X you don't like would have lost that 9th conference game that would have kept them out of the playoffs". That's the only explanation that makes sense why people get so worked up about it. It's dumb.

Playing 8 quality games as opposed to 9 just cheats fans out of seeing another decent, reasonably competitive game. That's it. If they want to help the lil sisters of the poor, then stop changing rules throughout college football that make it impossible for the lil sisters of the poor to build programs and compete.

Go after somebody proven. Not some in house biz as usual.
I'm sure most on here don't have recollection of the 1960s and 1970s, but in-house hiring in the athletics department was a contributing cause of TCU's slide into irrelevance, especially in football and to a lesser extent in basketball and baseball....On one hand, it was viewed by many as a noble "TCU takes care of its own" policy, but it did not encourage innovation....

Probably skill set in running a NIL department if things keep moving that way. Schools will just manage salaries like a pro team.

This hits the nail on the head. You could have added Chancellors as well back then.

Was I supposed to type something here?
Anyone know of any candidates they would like to hire?
Yeah: Me.

I would keep a magnificent bar in the office. Every day is "Casual Dress Day" (T-shirts, shorts, and flip flops. Socks under the flip-flops in case of inclement weather...). I have proven skills in glad-handing and schmoozing. I always lose at golf. Younger women won't give me the time of day, so that's not a risk. And, hey! Everybody keeps an Emotional Support Aardvark in their office nowadays!

It'd be the funnest Athletic Department in the BIGXII! We'd all accomplish wonderful things! Hell, we might even remember some of them!

Oh, yeah: I promise to listen to the Boosters.

So there.

Edit: So, I read the Reddit posting above. That's funny! Did I mention I do a great Power Grovel?
