1. Drive down I-35 from Dallas. One stop at the Baylor School of Law (Baylor Law School open on just about every holiday except Christmas). We had classes the day after New Years in 1983. Rating - 9.5 - uneventful and pleasant.
2. Parking - almost got into a fight with some parking guy at a parking tower near 15th and San Jacinto (Letterman's Tailgate). No sign saying "Reserved Parking Only" or "Permit Required", just another sign that had an arrow that said "public parking" which pointed down the street. He told me "You can't park here" and I said, "then you need to put up a sign." He got angry, I backed out and muttered, "ut Grad". I guess he heard me and yelled at me, "What did you say?" I replied, "Have a Nice Thanksgiving and drove off." About 50 feet down I parked for $15 and walked to the Letterman's Tailgate. ut Parking - Rating - 2.5.
3. Letterman's Tailgate. The boys brought the Pit. Rating. 10 out of 10. Only drawback were all the ut folks eating good TCU Letterman's BBQ. But the passing game ut put on the field made up for the meat consumed by the Burnt Orange folks.
4. Game crowd. Sat behind the band in the TCU section. Two ut folks (about 25 years old - couple both drunk and weaving yelling "Go Horns" and "Hook 'em" all through the first half) sat in front of me. They did not return for the second half. Seating in the depths of he!! at DKR rating 2.0. Comrads true. 10.
5. Post-game crowd. Very silent. Rating 10. Not really much to say after losing to the Frogs.
6. Drive home after the game. Returned to the Letterman's tailgate. Two Diet Soda's and hit the road back to Big D. Rating 8.
7. Stopped at Belton for gas and a water. Guy in pick up pumping next to me. "Who won?" "TCU". "Too bad, I'm a ut fan." "When did you go there?" "I didn't go there, I just like the Horns." I pause a moment, "why?" "Well, my district manager, she went there." Another pause, "where do you work?" "I'm the assistant manager of an HEB." Rating for the trip back 5. Rating for the conversation with the T-Shirt HEB assistant manager, PRICELESS.
