I suppose Nico isn't worrying about other Tennessee quarterbacks developing in the spring, or UTn finding its own mercenary and paying him what Nico is offered (or less).
Or he's pretty confident, and he's probably right, that there's some stupid booster out there @ another school who'll write him a bigger check.

I would imagine that they want Congress to do something because any rules they formulate and post would be challenged in Court immediately, cost zillions to litigate, and they'd probably lose in the end. So, getting Congress to do something takes the heat off them and lets them get on with continuing to screw up College Athletics.

Of course, Congress will only dither, delay, and then screw matters up far worse than we can possibly imagine...
Will need Antitrust exemption like NFL, NBA, and MLB have to institute salary cap and stop free movement of players.

Remember, in the fall of 1905, 18 young men DIED playing college football. Teddy Roosevelt’s son was a freshman at Harvard in 1906 and they were talking about dropping football.

Teddy, with no kind of authority of any kind, decides to reshape college football and brought in the forward pass and saved the game.

How would you do it?

All things considered, I think the NCAA did a pretty good job for 75+ years.
The NCAA had 40+ years to fix the problems. They should have tried to get an antitrust exemption after NCAA lost the court case on negotiating and retaining the TV rights. That is what lead to conference instability. Now we have far flung oversized super conferences that destroyed long historical rivalries.

For the nth time, you’re blaming the wrong entity. The NCAA isn’t going to do anything the schools and conferences don’t want, they work for them.

Since this is probably the first of many I think it's past time someone figured it out.

Came here to say this is close to the final straw that makes me lose interest in college football.

They better fix it fast - I'm someone who's gone to 8-10 games in 3-4 different stadiums per year over the last four years.

1. Place tariffs on portal transfers 100% equal or more to the development of said transferee. 2. Levy tariffs on schools with high NIL payouts against federal dollars to said school. 3. Levy tariffs on high NIL schools to be paid to schools taking in their castaway players.

Just being silly, really. But, then again...
