I’m fine with your loyalty to Sonny. Only problem is you always strangely feel a need to trash GP in the process. Most of us TCU fans respect both.
I don’t “trash” GP. I only point out facts when people say that the program has taken a dive since SD took over.

You probably think I’m some huge SD fan. I’m not. I just think a segment of our fan base has a personal dislike for him, for petty reasons I’ve pointed out.

If anything I think you’re a Patterson hater. Somebody has the temerity to question Sonny and you always launch into what about Patterson. It has grown stale. I like and respect them both.

Oh I’m not a hater, I just don’t think he hung the moon like some here. He was a great coach for a long time, and then he wasn’t. I think he was thinner skinned than he needed to be, so be it.

Questioning SD is fine, but there are some that go way beyond that with the criticism. And I personally know people that can’t stand him, for the reasons I’ve stated. And there are a few on here.

I have no doubt that you like and respect both, you aren’t who I am talking about.

So what if people can’t stand him? He doesn’t need you to defend him.

I guess my response to that would be so what if someone doesn’t think GP was infallible. He doesn’t need anyone defending him, does he?

Saying anything “negative” about GO seems to be off limits to some, but criticizing our current coach is like a sport, and he has a pretty decent record all things considered, no?

In all fairness, if you want to talk facts, here's one:

A couple of pages ago you said:

And it's really hard to win 10+ games every year with the 35th best roster in the country.

The reality is that GP did that 3 times in 10 seasons in the Big 12 (also did it 8 times in 11 seasons pre Big 12, which is obviously different).

So far Sonny has done that once in eight P4/P5 seasons and once in seven seasons in G5.

I don't really have a dog in the fight but to pretend that their accomplishments are remotely similar isn't reasonable. GP outperformed plenty of schools with more talent. Can't say he could do it again but also can't say is impossible to imagine.

Patterson dropped off in his last four (I blame that largely on QB recruiting failures two cycles in a row) but his record clearly puts him in rarified air.

How does a former top 45 recruit end up at several schools the last being Weber State— which is not a state.

How many know that they pronounce the name “Wee-bur” not “web-ur?” I was surprised by this. I was kind of thinking a more German pronunciation like “vay-bur” if it wasn’t pronounced “web-ur.”
It is an LDS school. It seems like Blinn College’s relationship with TAMU. Like a feeder school for students that aren’t ready for BYU, so they start there. So, maybe he is LDS and that influenced this former four star’s decision to go there.

I believe this is mostly true.
It‘s really not worth anyone’s time to debate GP vs. SD, as there is a universe of difference in the college football world during both of their tenures at TCU. The monumental change that has occurred in the last 3-4 years makes it an apples to oranges comparison.
In GP’s time, Sonny probably wouldn’t have done as well as a hard-nosed GP; however, in Sonny’s time, GP would have been out of his depth.
I am currently happy with both, and hopefully, Sonny will continue to build and grow the program under disadvantaged circumstances.

Out of control

This has to stop. I don’t understand how it is so difficult to put in guardrails and rules for maxing out compensation in NIL. How can you max out the schools at $20.5M, but 3rd party payments are unlimited? It makes zero sense. What has largely ruined the MLB (especially with the Dodgers), is going to be the ruin of college football.
