TCU's Patterson at peace with BCS system

TCU head coach Gary Patterson joined the show to discuss the Horned Frogs' place in the BCS picture.

Dan asked Patterson how he would feel if TCU is left out of the national title game.

"It doesn't do any good to be a whiner," Patterson said.

Patterson said no system is perfect, and he doesn't have a big problem with the BCS. "There's lots of ways to look at it," Patterson said. "I think the BCS is a good way. Everything has its pros and cons."

Dan asked Patterson how he would react if the Big 12 asked TCU to join. "I think that would be something we'd be excited with," Patterson said.

Patterson pointed out a playoff isn't necessarily perfect either. He pointed to the Miami Hurricanes team that lost to Ohio State in the national title game. Patterson said they lost four or five guys ... if that was the first round of the playoffs, the 'Canes would have been shot for the whole postseason.

Patterson also added he was flattered by the Notre Dame attention, even though he signed an extension with TCU.

Scott Van Pelt explains why TCU's Gary Patterson might become the rule, not the exception to it, in his "One Big Thing."

He lost me when he gushed over Mack Browns' 4- and 5-star recruiting success. He's still a BCS homer and a UT, um, shall we say, sycophant.

Yeah, that podcast went sour after they dissed on ACS and the field... [ What the heck? ]? I love our old, classic, historic stadium and if a kid doesn't want to go to TCU for a reason outside of us (TCU) winning, then yes... go somewhere else.

That is the same kind of stadium (abeit smaller) that you see in the big-10 that people go ga-ga over. And I like that kind, too. Feels like real college football, not warmed-over pro ball.
