That day in Waco was "#CAB Day" for "Coach Art Briles" who the Baylor people had held to be fired in error, as he was innocent, there was no evidence, etc. Many wore shirts with #CAB across the front. And yes, they absolutely and positively deserved a beat down that day. I wish we had scored more.

The 82 against Tech included two late scores by the last string Offense, which ran no pass plays for either possession. By that time, they were probably looking at suiting up the training staff.

Tech was doing their veronica routine by the 3rd Q. They didn’t even try to tackle Trevorris on the last TD.

Now hold on a second, the 82 against Tech was the emergence of a new star QB who was supposed to be behind the kid that transferred in from A&M. My recollection was that since he had played some WR in prior years, there were doubts about him and he needed reps. When the QB2 from A&M got in, he certainly wanted to show what he could do, even in a backup roll.

On UT, it was 37-0 about 10 seconds into the 2nd quarter so the dogs got pulled before half.

Apprently you forgot about Darryl Royal’s boys puttting over 80 on the Horned Frogs in the 1960’s but those lowlife scumbags let the holder kick and the kicker hold on some extra points in the 4qtr. You cannot run up a score on UT, the are like the Mexican Army in 1836. There actions mean they deserve no quarte.

Its undeniable the times GP called off the dogs far more than the well-deserved beat downs.

i had a few comments during last season that Curt Cignetti had an almost Jim Jones drink the flavor-aid socio-pathic demeanor to him. I guess you could ask what is worse. Cult like coach with a tint of inner thug or the borderline preacher coach who does not understand leading in the grey.

My great friend, who grew up across the street from me and was 4 years older, was the best RB in the state as a HS senior. Signed with DKR (iirc) in ‘76, just before DKR retired. He was the most complete athlete I’ve ever seen, but had the unfortunate timing to sign with UT the year after this dude Earl. As a freshman, Jimmy had 3 or 4 TDs in one game vs TT when Earl was dinged up. Next week Earl was healthy, Jimmy back to the bench, never to be heard from again.
