Flying T Club Update

Double D

Tier 1

Dear Flying T Club Family,
Now that the Revenue Sharing Era has officially begun, we would like to provide an update on the future of the Flying T Club.

TCU NIL

All payments to TCU student-athletes will now come directly from TCU Athletics. This comes as a result of the House Settlement receiving final approval. On July 1st, TCU began distributing its first payments to student-athletes.
There is no path forward, within the rules, for the Flying T Club NIL Collective to continue distributing payments to student-athletes. This means that the Flying T Club's mission to provide NIL opportunities for TCU Athletes has been fulfilled. All Flying T Club operations will cease on July 31, 2025
Please rest assured that TCU Athletics has committed to providing the maximum amount of revenue-sharing and NIL support for its athletes.

Recurring Donations

We will be cancelling all recurring donations today (7/10/2025). If you have set up a recurring donation, it will be automatically canceled. No action is needed on your part.

Tax Receipts

Gift receipts for tax purposes will be sent for your 2025 contributions.

Thank You

It has truly been a pleasure bringing so many Horned Frogs together in support of this mission. Horned Frogs far and wide stepped up to make a difference. Thanks to your generosity, the Flying T Club has been able to change the lives of hundreds of student-athletes. On behalf of our staff and ambassadors, we sincerely thank you for answering the call.

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions. Thank you.

I am confused - I thought the 20.5 M to be paid to players from TCU Athletics had nothing to do with NIL and that NIL was to keep chugging along as a separate revenue stream of payment on top of the 20.5 M?
This is where there appears to be a grey area. TCU is interpreting that the $20.5M/annually is the absolute max that athletes can receive, with no outside contributions whatsoever. Tech on the other hand is still helicoptering in cash from Campbell/Matador Club on top of the $20.5M from the school.

Has their been anyting concrete regarding the rule on this? It may be that it is not grey. If they did not specifically say that students can't still get NIL, and NCAA etc has not said that, then wouldn't it still be open?

If not, then what kind of [ Finebaum ] storm has Tech set itself up for? (and possibly not really their fault).

Where’s the next Dick Lowe to sac up? Working on it, but based on his schedule to hit it big, I’m still about 20 years out…

I just don’t see how this is reasonably enforceable. Way too many athletes, not near enough resources to monitor it all.

It almost needs to be either zero outside (NIL) money or unlimited if people think schools are going to start self policing themselves, then gigantic LOL.
It looks, at this point, that it is unlimited, it just can't be pulled together by collective. Which would seem to be what NIL was supposed to be at the start, a deal between the athlete and whoever wants to partner with them. But due to revenue sharing, it would be best for boosters/fans/alumni to just give to the school/ath. department. Because they are going to need it to counter the revenue hit.
