Turnovers have cost us two games that we had in hand. Yesterday three of them. Add in the punt return for a score and there you have it.

Hoover ends up up throwing for over 300 yards. We outgained them by 160 yards.

But I don't think this staff would win with Georgia's talent.
I think our team is really average in a really average conference - outside of Tech and BYU - everybody is about the same and generally whoever wins the TO battle wins the game. Just like it is the primary reason we lost two games, it is also primary reason we won 3 others that would have gone the other way in a reverse situation.

1. Pony up the money.

2. Name names...nobody can seem to name SDs replacement.

We are TCU, one of the smallest D1 schools in the Big XII, maybe the third best conference on a good day and people seem to think we can win 10 games every year when there are a handful of teams that will do that this year. You somehow think that we are a top 15 program in the country? Top 40, but not a top 15 program.
Pony up the money for what, NIL?

Do Cincinnati, Houston, Iowa State, K-State, and BYU spend more on football and have better NIL than we do? I'm sure their football budget isn't higher. BYU may have more in NIL, but I bet the others don't.

TCU doesn't have the resources to compile a roster that can compete with Bama and Ohio State. Fine. Let's start by beating the teams in our league with the same resources or less who are currently out coaching us.

Or be smart, and make the most of your $$$ resources.
If you can’t afford 5 huge linemen for $7 million like Texas Tech; then go get a tough RPO QB for $2m that can take off when the rush is heavy. Go get a proven 5’-9” 210 lb RB for $1m that can create his own running lanes. (Hopefully Denman will be one in a year or two)

TCU must be smart about this year‘s portal. We lose all of our IOLs at the end of the season.
Whoever the coach is, needs to TRANSFORM this team from 60% pocket passing into 60% RB & RPO QB runs that will open up prime passing opportunities.

The offense is either hot or cold. Problem is that it goes cold far too often. The talent is there, and I think most coaches around the country would tell you that TCU has a great roster. Need to find consistency on offense and play an entire game. Too many times we are getting shut out for an entire half.

I feel like this year is just watching the 2018 Cheez-Int Bowl on repeat.

Is the roster really that great? Outside of WR and maybe linebacker, I dont see it.
My thoughts as well. At the skill positions we’re pretty good. And we might even be good at rb but with our junky line and coaching, it’s hard to tell. Cam Cook’s performance this year points to the fact that he was probably pretty good but our line and coaching stunk him up.

The vaunted DEs are no shows in my opinion and outside of Bud Clark, our secondary has been absolutely atrocious for 3 years now.

Whatever the talent ability actually is, average coaching will always make it average.

I know folks are looking for glimmers, but the praise on the defense is hardly on the players who are being gassed by the offense lack of TOP. The secondary outside of Kylin Jackson & periodically Jamel Johnson/Bud Clark is poor. The CBs are not being challenged and taught technique.

I firmly believe there is an identity crisis brewing with TCUs DEs, OLBs, and "Stud position" Devean Deal and what looks like his back up at times Max Carrol are being stretched too thin in coverage vs. pass rush and run defense. Either put your hand in the ground and hold against spread sweeps and other running plays OR stand up and cover the tight ends. KSU, ISU exploited this coaching conundrum. To a lesser extent, West Virginia did the same. BYU will exploit this as well.

Paul Oyewale, Zac Chapman & Michael Ibuken Okeyode are very good DEs and are not being given marching orders from the defensive play call. They seem confused most of the time.

Along the lines of Cam Cook getting out of dodge and what that illuminates, how about somebody no one has spoken much about. Cooper McDonald. He was given sparse playing time and placed in the torn between 3 point guy and standup guy and wasted by the TCU coaching staff. Team Captain at SDSU b4 TCU and his brother was MWC defensive MVP and drafted. Threw the discus 178 feet as a 220 lb 17 yo. Find me kid under 250 Lb that can sling the disc over 175 '

Cooper was the star of Kansas Chiefs training camp as an UDFA & Spagnola KC DC said was one of the top rookies they had in camp over the last 5 years. McDonald made the 53 man roster and is now backing up one of the best run defenders and hardcore thumpers in the NFL. Leo Chanel.

on the current roster 7.5 of the 1(2)s. IF they are developed. We got a young back who I'm willing to bet enters to portal after this season. We rarely get to see him. He busts 10+ and then gets put in some secret chamber somewhere.
Are you talking Denman or Palmer ? Palmer has certainly been put in the dungeon fo sho.

It is crystal clear. The TCU staff does not understand rushing offense and Running backs in general.

Nobody thought the 2021 roster was great but it actually was. Moral of the story is...coaching still matters!
Actually, most people thought it did, which is why we knew Gary had to go. Too much NFL talent to have a losing record. Just took letting the mobile QB loose in a decent offense and overcoming one of the worst defensive coaches of all time with talent at all levels.

Ironically, we had to overcome GPs stubbornness with his crappy schemes on both sides, and Sonny’s idiocy in starting Morris over Max
