You realize Utah is like the second best defense in the Big 12, right? They are holding their opponents to like 16 points per game average. The offense could have done better tonight, but even humming they would not have scored more than like 24-27 at best against that defense. And that is wishful thinking.
Thought the play calling was good and the creativity inserting Savion into the running game was masterful.

Hoover is good but still misses reads. Work in progress.

•Quarterback Josh Hoover ranks fourth in the FBS in passing yards (2,270) while tying for third with 34 completions of at least 20 yards.
•Hoover's nation's-best streak of nine consecutive games with at least 20 completions and two touchdown passes was snapped last week at Utah. It was the longest by a Big 12 quarterback since Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden from 2010-11.
•Wide receiver Jack Bech ranks in the top 10 nationally in receiving yards (7th, 748) and touchdown catches (T-8th, 7).
•Bech's 12 receptions of at least 20 yards top the Big 12 and tie for seventh in the FBS.
•Bech has topped 100 yards in four games, including a 200-yard effort against UCF that ranks fourth among Power Four Conference players this season.

Briles is beyond redemption
I thought this thread was about his coaching.

What did Utah's defense do to make our OC constantly send in late subs, allowing them to match as slowly as they could get away with and confusing our own players, instead of running with the players he had on the field and showing us the genius of his daddy's rhythm-based tempo tempo tempo offensive scheme? Was it the same thing Houston, Kansas, and UCF did to make him do that or was it a different thing?

Yes, alarming how he seems unwilling or unable to learn from past mistakes, particularly given his troubling past while at Baylor.

how easy is the slow sub fix? Offense has to have subs in by 20 second mark, and defense has to have their’s in by the play clock expiration. If a team doesn’t get it done in time delay of game—5 yards.

Oh with that guy, its the coeds I’m more worried about, not me. But now that you mention it, who knows what he’s promising to recruits.
A federal lawsuit filed against Baylor University on Friday claims 31 football players at the school committed 52 acts of [ Baylor accusations ] from 2011 to 2014, which is far more than had been previously disclosed by university officials.

The suit also alleges a culture in which female students were used to recruit football players with “an implied promise of sex.” Coaches helped promote that culture, the suit says.

The filing says former offensive coach Kendal Briles once asked a Dallas-area recruit, “Do you like white women? Because we have a lot of them at Baylor and they love football players.”

The suit doesn’t say how the plaintiff or her lawyers know the details of all the rapes. It says that its allegations are “based upon investigations.”

A reminder of how disturbing and evil it was down there.

They should have left Briles in Waco where he belongs.
Briles has been one of the few bright spots of this season. Arguably the best OC in the conference, and definitely not the reason we are struggling.

We scored 35 yesterday, and it would’ve been 42 or 49 if two of our best WRs would’ve caught balls that hit them in the hands.

And he’s figured out a way to establish a running game despite the fact we have no traditional RBs and our OL can’t run block for [ Finebaum ].

Isn’t he at least somewhat responsible for recruiting players so we can run the ball?

5th in scoring and 5th in yards in the conference = arguably the best OC?

geez okay. Guess we have different standards. Briles has always been an empty stats guy though. Which teams has he led that actually had really good success in the season? Every one of his teams have been have been mediocre to above average, not elite though.. Even Baylor's teams weren't as good with him as OC.

But it's never his fault. I'm not saying it's all his fault, but come on there's no need for you to defend him. Every coach is at fault for this 5-4 season.

If you want to break it down even further, just go by conference games:

TCU is 9th in points per game. 3rd in yards. (Ill give some credit for that one)

He has a mediocre OL and no RBs. You try coordinating an offense without the ability to run the ball. I bet it’s not very easy.

Been scheming guys open all over the place.
