The secondary was not good yesterday, but we gave Sanders all day to throw. It was a all around bad day for the defense. Poor Nichols State. We will probably beat the crap out of them.

Our last 12 games.

45 vs Colorado
65 vs Georgia
45 vs Michigan after getting up big
31 vs Kansas State
Game vs a point shaver
28 vs a bad Baylor team
10 vs Texas (Geez how bad is Ewers) - to be fair this was probably his best game as DC
24 vs Tech (ok)
31 vs a horrendous WV
28 vs Kansas State
40 vs a very poor Oklahoma State team
31 vs Kansas

This is not good at all. What a saw us doing today doesn’t have a prayer for success for a number of reasons. I was willing to give him a pass in 2022 but he had a whole off season to address deficiencies. What I saw today total absolute garbage defense.
THIS DEFENSE BLOWS!!!!

We are screwed.

If we don't we're in for a long season.

I remember 2016, and barely beating South Dakota St.. That was a 6-6 year. If the defense doesn't find themselves next game, we are in some serious trouble.

I know this is a different staff and players, but mojo is mojo. If you don't have it, you play like [ Finebaum ]e. If you do have it, you shut out Nicholls and break every other team with the size of your balls the rest of the season.

Hopefully the defense grows a large pair and takes the rest of the season seriously.

We couldn’t stop the run or the pass. We couldn’t set the edge. We could not get any pressure. We gave up touchdowns all game long. The great news is that some of our players were occasionally in the right place at the right time, when they missed tackles. We can build on that!!!

Every tackle should look like this on Saturday.

We gave 1.6 yards per carry. We were fine against the run, maybe because Colorado can't run, but that is about all the defense did right.

They had 90 yards rushing if you remove the 38 taken from the total for sacks. Additionally, their starting RB had 135 receiving on plays that were largely an extension of the run game.
Even if you take those out, it was still around 3 yards per carry more than good enough to win a lot of games.. RB receiving yards have nothing to do with how well we stopped the run, it just shows secondary breakdowns.

Our DC doesn’t seem to have a knack for calling pass defense v well. It seems like our Safeties are not on the same page as our cornerbacks. What the Lb’s are doing is anyone’s guess.
