SALT LAKE CITY — A University of Utah student who police say threatened to detonate a nuclear reactor if the Utes' football team didn't win on Saturday has been arrested.

The 21-year-old woman was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of making a threat of terrorism.
On Saturday, the University of Utah football team hosted San Diego State at Rice-Eccles Stadium. The woman "posted threats of violence" on the Yik Yak app before the game, stating that "if the football team did not win the game, (she) was going to detonate the nuclear reactor that is located in the University of Utah causing a mass destruction," according to a police booking affidavit.

Police note in their affidavit that the student does have knowledge of the nuclear reactor and "is aware of where the reactor is located and attends class in the same building where the reactor is housed."

It’s good to have rabid fans. But not like the BSC girl you went out with twice as a freshman only to find out she’s been stalking you online for a decade.

Did this woman have access to nuclear material, or just nuts?

More than likely was joking but sadly, due to all the nut jobs these days, cops still have to look into it just in case.

They have a nuclear reactor in a school building?

What is going on up there on the hill? It's getting crazier by the week. And here we all thought the west concourse pooper was bad enough.

Merrill Engineering Bldg. Texas A&M has theirs in the Zachary Engineering Bldg. and UT-Austin has one as well.

I saw the reactor at A&M on a tour in high school

I think it’s hilarious that people are surprised that Universities have Nuclear Reactors

Where do they think Nuclear Engineers come from?
