A good watch though long especially if you have to see the ads. Summary is basically the team is deep with talent but needs experience. Coach Kelly has some good comments on the WRs and Ricker on the OL

No doubt there will be a noticeable drop. Craig clearly is having issues with deep throws. Can’t imagine that will get better in games. One upside with him is that he can and will run the ball.

Honestly, I’m fine if we’re a bit boring this year on offense. As long as we’re efficient and don’t turn the ball over.

- Landon Walker hasn‘t practiced one time in this camp. There is no way he‘s ahead of Denman. Jon is having a great camp & so is Payne.
- Terry Shelton has had a terrible camp. He’s dropping more than catching. It’s likely one of the three Z WRs will take his spot.
- Major Everhart is not getting much work @ slot. Dane Jones is getting the vast majority of the work behind Small.
- Kari Ashley is definitely the #2 TE. Kiauway is hardly mentioned.
- Hughes is not working at tackle. He’s in a close battle with Cade Bennett for #1 L. Guard.
( Lots of flexibility @ G and C with very little drop off: Powers & Buchanon are fully interchangeable at G & C, Hughes & Bennet are battling at LG, & McKinney is locked at RG.)
-Registe is not at Guard. He is battling Van Hoy for #1 R. Tackle. He’s in with the 1s at practice right now & was also with the 1s for most of the scrimmage.

Ricker mentioned he would never make the mistake again of putting Registe at guard, said he is a pure tackle.

On Shelton, they were mostly not pure drops, but he has let the defenders get the ball loose, something they are working with him on. Kelly still seems high on him.

I think you will see a big difference at QB but not necessarily bad. Craig looks to be closer to Duggan than Hoover, especially in the red zone. If the play breaks down or the D has is covered he is much more mobile and can improvise much better than Hoover. Think TCU fans will enjoy that part.

No question the deep ball misses are an issue. It is not lack of arm strength but timing and placement. Maybe still rushing it a little when he sees the play develop, but hopefully over the next few weeks and the first few games that will improve.

Yeah, Hoover was pretty bad when things broke down, no doubt about that. Hesitated to run, panicked, threw dumb passes, the whole bit. Major weakness in his game. I just have a feeling the "easy" stuff (7-10 yard in route, etc) isn't going to be that easy and we are going to be in 3rd down situations A LOT, and that's usually a recipe for frustration.

We’ll be fine its just different styles.
TCU under Sammis is switching to a pro-style offense prioritizing balance, passing efficiency, and a physical run game.
Under Briles it was a high tempo spread emphasizing speed, spacing, and creating big plays.
It’s likely there will be fewer big plays, fewer turnovers, & an improved run game.
Right now the major problem is receivers dropping passes.

and the receivers are learning how to block under Sammis.

The missed headline is how few road games they have played - an average of four per year!

Arky, Georgia, Florida, and LSU are among the teams with a small number of road games compared to other schools.

Maybe that's how the SEC has looked good and stayed highly rated...
