We will try. We don’t have the QB’s to throw it like we want.

Unless TCU can prove that they can run the ball effectively with the ability to jam it down an opponent‘s throat when needed, they won’t be able to pass the ball well enough to win a majority of their games.

It‘s really that simple. We need solid O-line play, especially interior, or the rest won’t matter much.

I was reminded last nite by a long-time board poster, probably the best one IMO, TCU tried to jam it down the throat of Nicholls State and failed miserably. At that moment, we should’ve realized we were in for a very long season. We rushed for 123 net yards against frickin’ Nicholls State, & even that was only in the middle of the field.
He also reminded me we are paying a big price for past year’s OL recruiting failures, and Sonny/Kendal have done a remarkable job of patching the OL via the portal. Most importantly, at the same time they did a helluva job recruiting H.S. - Powers, Taylor-Whit., Stoker, Steppes, Harvey, Hughes, Camacho, & Hodnett. The only issue is these youngsters need a little time.
Right now Nicholls is the ONLY HS recruit (or any recruit) that’s been in the program at least 3 years, and that’s not a good thing.
This is why we only have 7-8 rotatable linemen:
“ONE upper class lineman who has been in this program at least 3 years and SEVEN total offensive recruits or transfers who are still in the program after being brought in between 2020-23 compared to TEN this past season.”

CGPs last class (2021) was such a bust, only Camara and Battle remain from the HS recruits (and Banks the only transfer).

Quintin Harris is in his 3rd year and starting to show progress though game time is limited. Ben Taylor-Whitfield has a start and plenty of game experience which helps. But yes the 2021 and 2022 class failures are showing especially on the OL. One of the reasons they moved Lingren to the OL.
