Evaluating the 2013 Recruiting Class....

Lot's of different ways of evaluating and comparing recruiting classes......here's a few comparing the Texas B12 Schools:

I. Number of recruits ranked in the Rivals Texas Top 100:
Texas - 11
TCU - 10
Baylor - 8
Tech - 6

These are from the Rivals data base and include only high school recruits from Texas. If we also consider "out of state" recruits who's Rivals grade would place them within the Texas Top 100 if they were from a Texas high school the rankings would look like this:

Texas - 11 (Texas had no OOS high school recruits)
TCU - 11 (Fromayan from Georgia was a Rivals 5.7)
Baylor - 9 (Nance from Virginia)
Tech -8 (Outlaw and Polite-Bray from Georgia)

Texas lost four or five at the eleventh hour or it would have been a different story....but...it is what it is.

II. # of Recruits with Rivals Grade of 5.6 (mid 3* on Rivals) or higher

TCU - 17
Texas -15
Baylor- 13
Tech -10

I like our recruiting class. We were all disappointed to miss on a few at the end and this class lacks some of the star power from last year but it's a very solid class and might be a bit stronger than both Baylor and Tech. Not too shabby. Our staff did a darn good job and 22 young guys made a great decision.

I really like our class as well. 3 LBs, 4 OL, big defensive backs, several skilled versatile athletes, a few more recruits from outside Texas, and 2 stud RBs. Plus when you add in the high profile transfers, this has a chance to be one of the best classes of newly eligible players we've ever had.

And this is even after a somewhat disappointing 7-6 season.

By Rival's system, this is our 2nd best class ranking among our peers. Though looks to be, most likely, our third best class(#s vs player rank) over the last 5 years, which are the only years we've finished in the top 50.

However, that 2010 Rose Bowl championship team came from an 80th and 96th ranked class of JRs and SRs. We are in very good position to do similar play... with an OL that has some potential to gel.

Cheers !

More importantly, you guys need to learn how to read:

"here's a few comparing the Texas B12 Schools"

Do your own damn research if you want something else...

You left A&M off the list. You have a career as a Republican pollster.

Of more immediacy, Zero You and WVU were left off the list. We have to play them, too.

And Okie Lite, too.

then do your own analysis. I thought that it was good, interesting, and put things in perspective vs. who we always measure our (Richards) against around here. Especially those that are crying about recruiting.

Yep. The Rose Bowl team consisted of mostly two star recruits and a few NR guys and walk ons and developed them into four star performers.

I'm excited to see what he can do with mid and upper 3* guys.

I think we addressed our needs and were able to get the guys we needed. We are gaining ground on UT with the steal of Hicks from the Horns.
