I kind of figure this has been posted since Ubben published it on the 18th, but in my three second search I didn't see it.

Offense: C

You have to wonder what could have been for TCU in Year 1 in the Big 12 if Casey Pachall had stayed on the team, Ed Wesley hadn't left in May and Waymon James' knee had remained healthy more than a couple games into the season. Ifs and buts, candy and nuts, etc., but that wasn't the case.

Defense: A+

The Frogs got my vote as the Big 12's best defense. Stansly Maponga was a bit underwhelming on the defensive line, but Devonte Fields was better than anyone could have ever thought, winning the league's Defensive Player of the Year honors as a true freshman who only started to begin the season because DE Ross Forrest missed the season with a shoulder injury. Jason Verrett emerged as the league's best shutdown corner, a far cry from his awful outing to begin 2011 when RG3 torched Verrett and the Frogs. Elisha Olabode and Sam Carter filled out a strong secondary that forced 32 turnovers, tied for the most in the Big 12.

Overall: B-

It's tough to grade the Frogs, whose seven-win season felt like a 10-win season, considering the circumstances.

This season doesn't feel like a 10 win season to me. If we had taken care of business in the bowl game maybe I'd feel differently.

A grade of C or C+ is about right. The future is bright and there were some highlights from 2012 like beating UT, WVU and Baylor at their places, but we gave away the Tech and MSU games.

And West Virginia to 3OT, as well. Our offense was up and down all year. Down the stretch, though, C sounds about fair.

Actually A+ for our defense seems a little high. This wasn't even the best defense we've had in recent years.

Overall I agree with the analysis, especially the part about a 7 win season feeling like a 10 win season.

We took West Virginia to 2OT not 3. In the 2nd OT we went for the 2-point conversion instead on 1, and won it. Frankly, I wanted us to do the same during the 2OT of the Tech game. Had we done so, I don't think it would have ever gone to 3OT because we would have won it in 2.

I agree. Our OL was looking pretty dominant at that point in the game. Sweep to BjC3 gets in easily.

Our offense was up, then down and it never came back up. Our offense was horrendous starting the Okie State game. Once opposing defensive coaches had enough game tape on Boykin to effectively gameplan for Boykin, we had absolutely no offense. If you go back and look at the TDs we scored in the second half of the season, only four of them were actually of a result of the offense driving down the field on a multiple play drive. All the rest were a result of a great defense/special teams play, or a result of a one play drive (like the 94 TD by Boyce).

If there was a statistic for "first downs per possession" I would be willing to be TCU's offense was in the bottom 5% in the country.
