ESPN Rumors

In the Insiders college football rumors section they have their two most likely candidates as Arkansas and Louisville, even though they go on to say Arkansas has no interest. They then say other possibilities are BYU, Air Force, Pitt, Cinci, Memphis, and get this.......New Mexico. I think I'd have to slit my wrists if New Mexico was invited to a BCS conference before we were. At least they didn't say an invite was "imminent".

But wait, did the Big 12 commissioner have breakfast with all of the coaches with these schools as he did with the frogs this week? A busy man, he is.

Texas would vote for Memphis if they got the whole $10M

Sad. Very sad.

They don't want to add any teams from Texas including the U of H. They are hung up on getting out of state TV markets. They are basically saying the big 111111111111 minus 2 conference already owns the DFW and Houston markets, which is sadly true.

Yeah basically their whole rumor is based on them guessing schools outside of states with current Big 12 - 2 schools.

I wish you were joking.

I'm surprised Louisville doesn't come up more often in Big 12 expansion rumors. Their football team will probably be back to competing again soon, and basketball alone could make them a valuable commodity. Also, expanding the conference's footprint is key. I don't know about Memphis. Third most popular school in their own state (by a lot), never had much success in football, basketball hasn't been good for awhile. But $10 million is $10 million. FedEx won't provide that forever, but UT, OU, and A&M are clearly in this for the short haul.

Memphis has been pretty good lately in basketball. They were a number two seed in the Big Dance just two years ago. They would be crazy not to get BYU, but after them, I have no idea who would be the next best pick.

My mistake - must have been thinking of someone else. Wow, in '07-'08 they only lost two games all season.

I hope our guys are ready to go out and win a National Championship this year. At the trophy ceremony Boschini tells ESPN and DeLoss Dodds to "pound salt".

Doubtful this would happen, but if it did, we would just get picked up by the sec or big east to get that Texas exposure, count on it!

I would hope so, but I also wouldn't be a bit surprised if they fished U of H out of the pond instead of us. Too many people are hung up on our small enrollment. Outside of florida, TCU is the only school in the country that played in a bcs bowl and the College World Series this year...yet they seemingly pay no attention to that.

I think we should form our own conference. Charge $50 mil to join and we promise only to beat you 3 times out of 4.

Big 12's not expanding. Part of this deal was OU and Texas wanted to get rid of the championship game. Now the winner of the Red River Shootout has an inside track to the MNC game.

I agree. And the loser of that game most likely would be in a bcs bowl as well. The rich just get richer.

They are never going to invite us to the BCS so you should get over. We are going to win national championships as a non AQ. So What? Lets not feel bad because Texas won't let us in their league. Who cares.
