I foresee another 8-4 season, so #6 is probably realistic. We will be a really solid/good team again, but not really elite at any position. Closest position to elite would be safety.

TCU is No. 6 in the Big 12.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Your thoughts? I can't believe Tech is #1 in the Big 12 after its QB issue.......

I think we'll be about 4th. I think Tech maybe gets to 3rd.

I think their rankings for the big 12 and big 10 are further proof that these pre-season polls are a joke.

QB is the most important position on the field, but with what they’ve built in the trenches on both sides, no one in the conference will be able to keep up with it. If whoever they roll out at QB is nothing more than average, they’ll win the conference again.

Hell, the guy they had last year was just a few ticks above average and they still dominated the league.

I am becoming more optimistic about the upcoming season. With some luck we could be 9-3.
We have a pretty favorable schedule, but we also play the top 4 teams (TT, Utah, BYU, AZ). Luckily, we play 3/4 on the back half of the season, so hopefully the new blood will be fully adjusted to the new scheme. I think that AZ game is between us going 8-4 or 9-3.

I think you are correct that TT & BYU are top 4 in the conference. I think the wild cards for top 4 are Baylor, Oke State, Arizona State & Houston.

Baylor because of DJ Lagway's 2024 performance as a true frosh along with the pending DT transfer Hosea Wheeler.

OK State with arguably the best QB RB duo in the B12. Mestemaker is already the top QB selected on some talking heads NFL draft board next year

ASU with the wild card transfer QB Cutter Boley & that problem DT CJ Fite. The one who blew up two game changing plays when TCU played ASU.

Houston because they have the only 5 star QB out of HS( Lagway was 5 star out of HS on some outlets) and most starts among b12 qbs. Also UH has the most interesting transfer haul.

Morton had some strange tendency to have melt downs in high pressure have to have it moments. Very much like Drew Allar.

TCU does not play ASU, Houston, OK state so that is a good thing.

Going 9-3 would almost certainly require us to not lose a game we were all expecting to win. How often has that happened in the last 20 years? 3 or 4?

I would guess 9-3 is about the ceiling given our level of funding, but a 6-6 type season is a real possibility. A lot of course will depend on the new QB. I have my suspicion that we are going to see a fall off in production from that position but I hope I am wrong.

I am a little more optimistic about this season than I have been recently. I think 2 cancers to the program are gone. I have been very outspoken about them since their arrival on campus. One always seemed to have teams fade at the end of games and the season. Max Duggan bailed him out far too many times. The other was the most entirely overrated coach in his position I have ever seen. How do you stay a coordinator for a decade and never sniff a HC job?

I was never the biggest Hoover fan. He was a vacuum! Sometimes as a vacuum sucking is a good thing, but there are plenty of times you suck and that isn't good. I am excited to see what Craig or Schoblel can do with this offense. I am also excited to see us with an OC that knows how to run an offense! I think there is a lot lost on the outside, but we always seem to find a few good receivers.

Defense and special teams are question mark. Seems like we lost a lot from 2 units that haven't been very good. Maybe that is a good thing.

I think 10-2 is a very real possibility. I could also see something much better.

I don’t know, but we had a DC here for a decade who never really sniffed a HC job, and nobody criticized him.

Of course they are. If they lost their QB, both lines, and entire WR corps ESPN would still find a way to put them #1. I truly don't understand it.

I just hope we TCB on Thanksgiving night. Lets see how wonderful they are after replacing their entire store-bought DL.
