ESPN: Boise in Talks to Remain in MWC (again)

The Mountain West and Boise State are having ongoing dialogue about the Broncos staying in the conference instead of leaving for the Big East in fall 2013, a source with direct knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com on Friday night.

Also some other conference rumors regarding the Big 12, Big 10, and ACC including:

Still, ACC schools that could be ripe for poaching -- Florida State and Clemson for a possible Big 12 play and NC State and Virginia Tech as a possibility to the SEC -- are waiting to see what happens with a lawsuit over whether Maryland has to pay a $52 million exit fee to join the Big Ten.

I think Boise would be wise to stay.

. . ..

Even after all the changes in membership the Big East has gone through, TV money may still be measurably better there than in the MWC, although too early to be certain about that. Sad but true. Our old MWC colleagues are better than the MAC/Sunbelt, but their TV money isn't much different.

True true.

Basically for them (and you would assume SDSU as well) it's if they want more of this money and likely high risk of the conference being even more unstable years down the road vs. a conference where they'd travel less, be more stable, continue to establish/maintain more natural rivalries and so forth.

I don't know the nitty gritty details of all this but on the surface, at least in the immediate future the MWC is all but the more stable/better option. I'd assume if they stay, they keep all their sports in the conference.
