A too-early look at Big 12 Heisman hopes

Baylor's Lache Seastrunk already says he's going to win the trophy, but just in case he's wrong, let's look at the other possibilities.


Casey Pachall, QB, TCU: And you thought the debate over Johnny Manziel's legal past got heated this year. Pachall very well may be the Big 12's best quarterback if he returns to the team next year, and TCU looks the part of a Big 12 title contender. If TCU wins and Pachall leads them there, voters may have to decide if they're willing to buy that Pachall is a new man and his drug use and DWI arrest were part of his past.

The fact that the Heisman voters gave it to a freshman this year gives me more faith that, if CP comes back and is the clear deserving candidate, that he could win it, despite his past. No doubt, it would have to be clear cut though since I think life outside of football will play into it for many voters.

CP does have a very definite chance of winning the Heisman if he stays clean throughout the season and plays as well as he played last year. We need our O line to get bigger and stronger in the off-season so he will have time in the pocket to throw.
