I am not a season ticket holder as I live in CA and would likely not go to that many games, but it seems that the price increases are substantial - more for some people - I guess based on the location of the seats. But overall, seems like a big increase. Do ticket prices go up every year? Shouldn't there be a fixed percentage that they cannot exceed for renewals? It's one thing if someone new buys in, but existing season ticket holders should get some loyalty reward. Just my opinion.

Utah will likely be a bad football team with their HC retiring in the next year or two. WVU sucks. Arkansas State replaces SMU - downgrade…

Think about it this way…if you lived in HOU / AUS / San Antonio…would you drive round trip and pay for a hotel to watch any of those home games?

My answer is no..
Utah's poor year was an anomaly and WVU just hired Rich Rod. I'd travel for both of these games. They should be competitive. I'd stay home for Arkansas State and donate my tickets, unless you want a night on the town.

So the forced donation is now higher than my ticket price, too bad we can't pay the donation per game and after the final snap based upon product received.
“Forced donation“ is moving the biggest cut of the ticket price that some top drawer (I hope) tax specialists think will not draw nasty attention from IRS to a deductible pigeon hole.

I feel silly posting this, but it seems to me that an amazing number of posters don’t get it. I apologize if this remark offends.

Utah still doesn’t have a QB and their head coach has openly announced retiring in 2025 or 2026. Not an anomaly.

This forum has some of the most bizarre people on it, the write off for college ticket donations was eliminated in ~2017 under TJCA…that was ~7 years ago and you people are still claiming the deduction somehow?

Other schools have frozen / grandfathered some part of the total (ticket price or donation) depending on when you purchased.

Its not common but a few SEC schools have honored that policy

Yes. Every year for the past fifteen or twenty years. I can’t remember the last time prices stayed flat and I’m too lazy to look it up - but before the renovation for sure. And I agree. Loyalty rewards would be a nice gesture. I don’t know what it would look like but think something could be done to kind of stroke those who’ve been season ticket holders a while. I guess the closest thing was expanding the way priority points are calculated but even that’s just geared to generating more donations and not really a “perk”.

All that said, I re-upped.

Dear Horned Frogs,

We had a terrific close to our football season with wins in our last four games and six of the final seven, capped by an impressive performance in the Isleta New Mexico Bowl. We reached nine victories for the second time in the last three seasons. Led by returning record-setting quarterback Josh Hoover, we enter the 2025 campaign and the opener at North Carolina with a lot of momentum.

Pending finalization of the House v. NCAA class action lawsuit, revenue sharing with student-athletes is scheduled to begin this summer. TCU will participate at the maximum level, enabling us to recruit and retain the top talent needed to put us in position to win championships. This commitment to compete at the highest level nationally mirrors Athletics being one of the four pillars in TCU’s Strategic Plan: LEAD ON: Values in Action.

In conjunction with this new model of collegiate athletics, staying competitive with our peers in revenue streams, meeting your demand for more home games and giving our team the best chance to contend for a Big 12 Conference Championship and return to the College Football Playoff, we made needed adjustments in our football scheduling. This fall will be our final season with just six home games. Moving forward, we will have a minimum of seven home dates each year. In fact, there will be eight games in Amon G. Carter Stadium in 2026.

This year’s finalized schedule with dates will be announced shortly by the Big 12 Conference. Per the previously released Big 12 scheduling matrix, our home conference games are Baylor, Cincinnati, Colorado and Iowa State. We also host Abilene Christian and SMU. As we plan for the future and distribute your season ticket renewal next week, you may notice a price increase in your section for this upcoming football season. The above factors were taken into consideration, along with market research that how we compared to fellow Big 12 Conference members and the DFW sports market in pricing. This was further evident in the demand for our tickets on the secondary market. These strategic data-driven decisions were made to keep us on a level playing field with our peer institutions.

Once you receive the renewal information for 2025, please feel free to contact our Parrish Family Athletics Ticket Office at [email protected] or 817.257.FROG (3764) for more information or to have any questions answered. Our goal is to keep Amon G. Carter Stadium in purple, at capacity for every game and provide the best home-field advantage possible for our student-athletes.

Thank you again for your continued support! It is more valued than ever. Go Frogs!

Sincerely,

TCU Athletics

Cause they will use that reason to bump prices up next year. This year is “just because.“
Next year they will brag that the per-game price stayed the same, then the following year they will say that they are increasing prices "for the first time in two years".

Athletics Departments sound like Senator Geary in Godfather II: "I intend to squeeze you."

I do not use this as a deduction. Only cash donations to the University do I claim.

I really don't think they thought these dramatic increases through. They may be running off more people than money they will make on the price increase. For our size university we do a great job of supporting our teams, but being our size means we do not have a huge alum base waiting in line for season tickets. I hope this does not bite the athletic department in the rear, but I fear it just might. For someone who has not missed a home game in over 60 years even I am thinking what the hell.
