I'm sure that coaches learn from their experiences. Sark is probably a better coach now than then. Sonny certainly learned from his Cal experience.
Sure.

But it’s funny how suddenly Sark has become a great coach. It’s an entirely different landscape now in college sports and Sark happened to land at the most monied program at just the right time.

He went 5-7 in 2021. At Texas. And then the money started flowing and he could go buy some quarterbacks and an O-line. Presto, they are really good again.

Football is a game of adjustments. We benefited with the new regime in 2022 because few of our conference opponents had faced a SD team. The second time time around teams knew what to expect and of course we had a lot of player changes. Last year SD made some changes to regain the advantage.
We also had tremendous athletes to execute, including a dragon-hearted kid at QB who simply refused to lose...

Since 2000, Texas has had 11 double digit win seasons. Sark has 2 in 4 years. He's no Mack Brown, but he's no Charlie Strong either...

I get that.

But what would Sark be doing if he was at Auburn or Ole Miss instead of Texas? That play call against OSU in the CFP semifinal was once of the dumbest ones you'll see. Prior to Texas, he coached 7 years at what are pretty strong, traditional football programs, and won 57% of his games.

Hell, Dykes had a couple poor-average seasons at freaking Cal and frog fans pretend like that should have buried him for good, or at least made him not qualified to coach at TCU.

Your absolutely correct players wanting to play at Texas regardless of the coach will make any coach look not half bad.

Serious smoke that our 2026 game against UNC will now be a week 0 game in Ireland.

No wonder TCU started promising not to increase prices again next year. So much for those 8 home games they promised. Another OOC opponent TCU pulls the rug out from under on the season ticket holder. Outside of Deion Colorado in 2023, when is the last time an interesting out of conference opponent came to Fort Worth?

I will still go to some games in the future, but this will be my last year as a season ticket holder. Don't really see what the point is anymore.

Does someone on the forum know what we'll be paid for playing in Ireland?

Oh...and by the way...at the end of August and the beginning of September, the weather in Ireland is typically mild but can be quite variable. Average temperatures range from about 12°C to 18°C (54°F to 64°F). Rain is common, as Ireland is known for its frequent showers, so it's advisable to be prepared for wet weather.

Better weather than Cowtown. That was probably the deciding factor.

Dear TCU,

Do not, I repeat do not move the North Carolina game to Ireland. That would be the ultimate middle finger to your season ticket holders.

Sincerely,
Big Frog II
Dear Big Frog II,

We don't care. A first class, all expenses trip to Dublin is too good to pass up. Besides, it's not like you're losing a Home Game against The Ohio State or anything...

Renew early!

Cordially,

TCU

If that’s true, I feel even more confident I made the right choice not to renew.

You have a point, but after looking back on all the early feature OOC games at the Carter over the decades that I've attended, only a few were really notable. Florida State circa 1965, Auburn in 1980, OU in 1993 & 1998, Arizona in 1999, Arkansas in 2016, and we lost all of them. And the weather has been typically brutally awful in these early September beat-downs. I get it that we need more home games, but the feature OOC home game isn't one I'm enthused about. I do remember talking to old Hog fans in 2016 who said they've never seen such a difference in a college football environment between our old stadium and the new.
