Early Frog Recruit Opts Commits to Butler CC -- According to Daily OK

Joel Blumenthal didn’t want to spend any time later in life wondering “what if.”​

The Deer Creek quarterback, still holding out hope for a Division I offer, weighed his options and decided Thursday night to commit to Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kan.​

The only thing that could change Blumenthal’s decision would be a late Division I offer. TCU and New Mexico expressed strong interest but went in different directions. Blumenthal has been in contact recently with Arkansas State.​

Deer Creek coach Matt Bailey says Joel Blumenthal has put the young Antlers squad on his back in recent games, none more so than Friday night. Blumenthal, a senior guard, scored 52 points in a 69-66 win over Yukon to advance the Antlers to the consolation finals of the Bruce Gray Invitational. In three games this week, Blumenthal is averaging 40 per game. Friday’s 52-point outing is believed to be a Deer Creek single-game record.​

He would single-handily outscore the entire TCU team at 52 points.

He's a great kid to boot. Very mature, remarkably focused, and an intense competitor. As for basketball, there's simply no other option for his high school team at the offensive end. First time I've ever seen a triangle and two with the "two" being a double team on him.
