I don't remember that being part of his KXOL schtick, but it was in his standup act, and he was incredibly entertaining.

I do remember him playing a love song and asking, "I wonder what Marilyn Monroe's breath smells like, first thing in the morning?"

I was pretty young, but I could recognize he was different from other DJs who just played the songs, and tried to impress listeners with their deep voices.

It stuck with me for the rest of my life. I always tried to be more than just another pretty voice on the radio, and I wanted to be the guy that made people laugh.
