Duke Riley gets LSU offer

Up late watching Showgirl videos and came across this info....

LB Duke Riley 6-1/205/4.5 from John Curtis Christian near New Orleans

LSU offers and now looks to be the odds on favorite to land him. Also named 1st team all-state so had a big day yesterday.

Rumors were he was about to commit to Tulane (and reported as such in NOLA online) but denied he was committed anywhere.

Staff having a hard time filling that last linebacker spot.

Also many were hoping TCU would offer LB Nick Ramirez 6-1/228/4.6 Lee's Summit, MO however he commits to KSU and looks to be solid on that one.

With all the defensive success TCU has had this season and for over a decade TCU should be racking up on defensive players. TCU should have recruits lined up to play on the defense. Every defense player should be wanting to play for TCU. For TCU to be having troubles recruiting defensive players that is ridiculous.

Paging all 2-star high school running backs. Would you like to play linebacker in the National Football League five years from now? Please call the TCU football office.

I know we're In an uphill battle with traditional powers, some of whom have great defensive tradition. Just would like to see us winning more of these recruiting wars from time to time.

We are winning some of these battles! Jordan Moore probably had the best offer list of any recruit we've gotten in the CGP era. Devonte Fields? We just flipped a 4-star RB that was committed to UT! We aren't going to get every kid we want, but to complain about our recruiting is just crazy. The negativity on this board is mind boggling at times.

I know we are winning some. I said I wish we were winning more. And I believe that as the brand grows and success on and off the field continues, we'll see a gradual, steady increase in recruiting victories.

But we do seem to be having trouble landing that last LB spot, which is confusing to an extent when you have a Coach P/Randy Shannon combo.

Can we get back on topic and talk about the showgirl video? It's a shame how this board has fallen off... what's next, game threads??

yikes. good for him, that's his dream school so we have no chance

However it would be so nice if we beat them next year :D

Feisty, any TCU interest in Charles Woods, the SWJCFC Defensive Player of the Year from Kilgore JC? He's another small linebacker for the 4-1-6 and seems to be a playmaker.

First of all, I think our LBers so far in this class are outstanding, all more of the hybrid safety or OLBer types and Riley would have fit into that mold also. He has not committed but expected to when he does his official which he has been invited to take to LSU, we shall see but TCU looks to be behind the tigers and green wave for him right now.

2nd, only a few slots left and the staff going after some big corners who also may grow into the hybrid role that seems to be the emphasis lately.

I think this is an excellent class but yeah you wish for the staff's sake that they would win some more of these battles. I am sure they don't fret over it much and go on to the next one in line, but yeah a lot of hard work goes into recruitting these kids.

That's definitely an important part. I would like to confirm that too.

Per his quote:

"He (Coach Frank) said they watched more of my tape and love the way I play. They have 22 commitments and are holding the last spot for Kendell Beckwith, but are offering me a scholarship to greyshirt."

Not sure it really matters to him and Beckwith seems to be leaning towards Al right now so he would get the fall enrollment in, but again I think he goes to them either way.

Kid is a stat machine that is for sure. TCU was showing interest but not sure where he fits in system. He is defintely more of a safety at 5-10/190 range but may be a step slow for what the coaches like. Does have good cover skills in the middle though.

Stats from 2012: 128 tackles, 2 Ints (one for TD), 2 sacks, 3 fumble recoveries (One for TD), 5 forced fumbles and 5 pass breakups.

Thats what Cameron E-Luper said about TCU, then abruptly committed elsewhere.

Not saying Riley will do the same, but you never know.

Not sure Echols-Luper grew up a huge TCU fan but liked the idea of returning back to Texas. A little off topic, but TAMU getting Cameron as a commit is one of the reason Reuben Foster will visit. Doubt he goes to the ags, but they are on a frickin roll.
