Chancellor Boschini has requested the TCU flag be lowered to half staff Tuesday, December 18, in memory of Dr. Christopher Barry, professor emeritus in Business Administration. His obit appears below.
Dr. Christopher Barry (1947 - 2012)
Barry, Dr. Christopher Dr. Christopher Barry passed away peacefully at the age of 65 on December 13th, 2012. He was born on November 5th, 1947 in Blakely, Georgia. Chris was a highly accomplished academic and Professor Emeritus who held the Robert and Maria Lowden Endowed Chair in Business Administration at Texas Christian University. He had an amazing impact on the lives around him, bringing understanding of the intricacies of economic markets, faith, and terrible puns. Although his professional accomplishments are too long to list, his real passion was being an adoring husband, father and Papa. Chris gracefully struggled through a 7-year decline as a result of a little-understood brain disease called Frontotemporal Dementia. He shared his courage and faith with others constantly, passionately believing that life's end is truly an opportunity to rise up and be with the Father. He will be dearly missed by his friends, family, and colleagues. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gayle, his 2 children, and 5 grandchildren. Services will be held on December 18th at 3pm at Lovers Lane United Methodist Church in Dallas, Texas. (9200 Inwood Drive, Dallas, Tx, 75225.) In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a newly established academic scholarship at TCU in his name.
I was honored to have been in Dr. Barry's EMBA class and I have frequently called upon his insights in my work. I did not see if this had already been posted and if so, I apologize for the duplication.
