Does Dallas have the worst GMs/owners in the country?

Is nobody going to let this thing play out and actually see what happens?

I know we are said to see him go, but there is a debate to be had of if you could actually build a team to win a championship with someone whose a liability on defense and pay him 70 million a year, Not to mention he averages 60 something games a year and has only played 22 this year. His current status is “no timetable for return” so he may finish at 22. There a lot more factors going on here.

He already seems to be breaking down physically. Granted, the guy they traded him for has his issues on that front too. But I really can't see LD running up and down the court and playing passable defense for 90+ games/year for too much longer.

That opinion might be biased because I don't really care for him. Absolute basketball savant but he just seemed like a prick to me, and the constant whining about calls and no-calls grates pretty quickly. And I think he's un-coachable.

odd statement for a player who was 8th in steals and somewhere around 15th in rebounds last year. And I don’t have it in front of me, but during the finals run last year they had stats that showed Lukas on ball defensive efficiency ratings were top 10 in close ball games. So while Luka isn’t ever gonna be a lock down defender, he’s not a blanket liability either. It’s just always going to be a trade off of 40 point games or above average defender each night.

and everybody said the same crap about Dirk not playing any D until he strapped several teams on his back and carried them deep into playoffs year after year and won a ring. It’s a euro ball misnomer that just isnt a reality like it may have been 3 decades ago.

The issue is that they did not call around the league and see what other options they had outside of AD. This is a bad trade because they should have gotten much, much more. The Kings got a better haul for Fox and he is not even close to Luka's level. Worse, the Spurs are setting up for a strong future with Wemby, the Rockets are young and exciting and the Mavs now have an old, injury prone team.

This is right up there with me like Jimmy Johnson being forced out of the Cowboys. One moment , we are a top 5 franchise (in winning) then Jerry decides to run the team his way.

You never doubted Cuban’s desire to win or that he’d do almost anything to win every year. This new ownership group is something else. Luka was not perfect , but you have to pay someone and try to win. This group basically started a rebuild without getting the necessary picks to help. Fine trade Luka because you want to play a different style .. but get the picks to do it. Boston traded most of the big 3 to get those picks that built its current squad
