I've been here (DFW region) a while now. I'm still not used to it. I'm still more of a smaller town guy. And the past 10 years it seems like it has gotten insane. I still can't get used to a place this big. And it is way better than other big places.

I have learned to take advantage of what's here. Ya know, go see certain things, check our different places, while I'm still here. I could end up working in the crack of nowhere and then think ..."Man, I should have checked out the Mexican Sugar place."

I don't really "take advantage" of anything the big city offers because I don't really care to do all the things. I typically go to the same 4-5 restaurants, I basically never attend sporting events or go to any museums or any of that stuff because I just don't care to deal with all the traffic, etc. So I could basically live the same way I do now in a town of 20,000 people. About the only thing that keeps me here is work. I'm looking forward to getting out.

DFW has gotten WAY too big for my liking. It's good for business, bad for everything else.

I get the sporting events issue.
Same here on work is what keeps me here.

Ditto on all that [ Finebaum ]. One more school year and we’re out. Already started construction at the ranch, where we will be during non-hell’s armpit seasons. Just came back from an extended European slog and coastal Spain is high on the list for the other half the year but don’t anyone else try it it sucks.

I’m efforting in that direction. Had a deal all locked down, was a freaking bird’s nest on the ground and stepped on my dick chasing bigger bucks that I don’t need. Such a dumbass sometimes. Literally coulda done that gig from anywhere on earth, and the one I took instead(downtown office grind) I almost instantly hated and quit after 6 months. The good news is, the wife now wants to work, and that will free me up to be construction guy, and travel to scout real estate.

I am so burned out on consumer law that I took a job w/ the feds. The sunday before I reported wife n I made the trek over to Las Colinas from our favorite cafe just west of downtown FW. Was a liesurely 27 minutes. The next morning I left home before dark and stared at tail lights for an hour and a half. I lasted 3 months and by the grace of God I was cut loose in time to haul it down to San Antonio for the Alamo Bowl. Seeing my long lost buddy and beating the University of Spoiled Children was the ultimate exclamation point on the end of a mistake and the start of something new.

In very large cities, you have to stay regional except for special events. The traffic has gotten bad, but I have alternate routes to and from work and check Google maps ahead of time. Glad I don't drive the metroplex for a living. That being said, I doubt I will ever see the Stars or Mavericks again once they move. It's just not big a priority to me having to battel a terrible place to get to not being able to take the train from Fort Worth.

I basically stay in my region 90% of the time. Only really feel like leaving it to go to Fort Worth.

I drove around Willow Bend on the way out of the office yesterday evening. The more I look at that property, and the fact that the Stars have facilities further up in Frisco, it makes me wonder if they putting in on that property to see if they can get leverage on Dallas. Then just stay where they are at.

While a new facility would be cool for the Stars, I personally love the AA Center as their venue. Big venue with great acoustics and is absolutely rocking for every playoff game.

The Mavs can move to Vegas for all I care. That organization is dead to me after what has happened in the last 2–3 years.

It’s funny how they got almost no grief for letting Brunson walk. He’s arguably just as good as Luka when you take everything into consideration.

Absolutely. I knew letting him go was a huge mistake. It’s absolutely disgusting how poorly run this organization is.

Personally, I still don’t think they should’ve gotten rid of him even if they got more for him. But yeah, what they got in that trade is maybe half of what they should’ve gotten. I will always believe that Nico got some kind of under the table kickback from the owner of the Lakers (who he is good friends with).
