Does Dallas have the worst GMs/owners in the country?

What a mess. Meanwhile the true fans are the ones suffering the most thru all of this.

a new ownership group that learned several months too late that their GM did not have a good understanding the market, their team or their fan base and they got caught not being as involved as they should have been. That’s now led to a long term erosion of a relevant franchise from a fan base perspective and a player talent perspective.

all this from an honest to goodness MFFL from day 1

The funniest part of all this is that the so called main reason for trading Luka was his conditioning and being out of shape. AD has only played in 14 games for the Mavs since the trade and only 5 of the 11 games this year. Oh yea, he's in great shape. He got hurt in the first game he played with the Mavs and is hurt right now, missed the last 6 games.

IMO trading Luka was the right thing to do. What they got for him was embarrassing, even if Davis could stay healthy. If they had shopped him to the highest bidder they probably could've gotten twice as much in return.
My biggest problem with the trade was what the Mavs got in return for Luka. You trade a generational talent for a scheissing guy made of glass. Davis [ hundin] ass has missed more games due to injury than he's played in since the trade. He's only played in 31 out of 75 games since the trade happened last Feb. He was injured when they made the damn trade. Nico is and forever will be a scheissing idiot.

I thought it was going to be interesting what Davis brought to the table, but even when he's healthy he looks and plays like a guy who doesn't really care that much. They need to get rid of him but no team in their right mind would give up much for him.

The story on espn says that Atlanta and Toronto are interested in him. Both teams are in the playoff hunt. Toronto is 4th place in the East and Atlanta is 9th. 9th place gets you in the play-in tournament. But like you said, the Mavs aren't going to get [ Finebaum ] for him, especially now that he's out for the rest of the regular season. The espn story says that he should be able to return at some point during the playoffs. I could see Atlanta trying to get him, especially since they traded Trae Young.

I'm convinced NBA teams make trades for no reason at all other than for people to have something to write about other than the boring games. Why the heck would the Hawks want Anthony Davis? Just seems to make little sense. It's not like he's going to make them even remotely a contender for anything.

Honestly, with each passing day all sports are becoming more about the soap opera aspect of the off the field/court crap than who wins on the field.

Russell Westbrook averaged a triple double over a season and has not won a championship, and Luka will likely not win one neither - overrated - defense wins championships.

A year later, and I still firmly believe it is and will likely ever be the worst trade in sports history. I’m almost positive Nico Harrison got some kind of under-the-table kickback for it.
Second worst trade in NBA history. The Pacers originally had the #2 pick in the 84 draft and traded it to Portland. Which they used to draft Sam Bowie. And then the Bulls drafted Jordan with the #3 pick.

The Mavs tried to trade up to get Jordan but Chicago ended up keeping the pick. The Mavs ended up drafting Sam Perkins at #4.
