DMN: With College Football Playoff hopes, TCU knows Iowa State is a threat it can’t overlook

Sonny Dykes’ praise of Iowa State this week sounded at times like a masterclass in coachspeak.
Never mind that Iowa State is 4-7 and has won only one of eight Big 12 games, the TCU coach said. Things could have been different with a few breaks.
The Cyclones are a legitimate threat to No. 4 TCU (11-0, 8-0 Big 12) and its hopes of an undefeated season and College Football Playoff berth, Dykes emphasized.
“They could very easily be 7-4, 8-3 or 9-2,” said Dykes, noting Iowa State “had very many close games that come down to the very end of the wire, and it just kind of hasn’t gone their way. So it will be a big challenge for us Saturday. I think our players understand it.”
