THSCA urging colleges to not compete with Texas high school football on Friday nights
Story by Greg Riddle, The Dallas Morning NewsSAN ANTONIO — The Texas High School Coaches Association is the largest state coaches association in America, with 27,529 members. It is trying to throw its weight around to keep college football games from being played on Friday nights in Texas so high schools can continue to have center stage.
The THSCA is particularly upset that Houston is playing at TCU at 6:30 p.m. Friday Oct. 4 on ESPN. That is Week 6 of the UIL regular season.
“We will continue to voice our concern and displeasure with conference commissioners regarding live FBS football on Friday night in this state during our regular season,” THSCA executive director Joe Martin said during his organization’s 92nd annual convention and coaching school.
