Frisco Centennial defensive back Ranthony Texada intercepted two passes and led the National Conference to a 20-9 win in the Offense-Defense All-American Bowl on Dec. 30 at Reliant Stadium in Houston. Texada, who has committed to TCU, was named the National Conference’s defensive player of the game.

Wylie East wide receiver Marcell Ateman (Oklahoma State pledge), Allen offensive lineman Brad North (Northwestern pledge) and West Mesquite defensive lineman Dimarya Mixon (Missouri pledge) were also selected for the all-star game. Ateman had one catch for 16 yards, and Mixon had one assisted tackle.

Really looking forwarfd to seeing this guy on the field. Apparently he defends much better than his size would seem to indicate.

Did you watch the game? I am not being sarcastic or an [Craig James], I simply would like to know.
From East Texas. i did not see it live. watched replay. Ross is really really good and the JT team had multiple offensive threats that required man to man coverage. Ross was too physical and too fast, and Ward the QB for JT was very accurate. I'm not critical of Texada; he's got all the tools. But Ross just wore him out repeatedly that day.

Cool thanks. I knew Ross put up big time stats in the game, I just wasn't sure if Texada was lined up against him 1 on 1 the entire game. Ross is going to be very good from all I have read, and it looks to me like he was under-recruited.

Ross didn't wear Texada out - Ross wore the Centennial zone defense out. I watched the game and not via film. Centennial played Tyler in a cover 3 and it allowed Ross to matchup inside against linebackers and safeties - Two of his 3 touchdowns came in the slot. Centennial never but two of the best corners in the state in straight up man on any of the Tyler receivers - Texada and Calvin could have made a big difference - they can only play the scheme there coach allows them to play. But to say Ross wore Texada out, is just not being truthful - Texada played very little man in that game. The only time Ross scored on him was when Ward went out the game and Bowser came into the game - Bowser, who had never thrown a pass, caught the Centennial Def offguard and hit Ward in the back corner of the endzone. In fact, this was the 2nd play of the 4th quarter and Tyler never scored another TD. So if you say a kid got ate, make sure you actually watched the game to see the defensive scheme being played. I don't know what Centennial Coaches were thinking, but I would have taken my chance all day with Texada man to man on Ross and Calvin man to man on Flowers. As you can read the print, Texada was an MVP as a corner in an All American Bowl - that tells you everyting you want to know about this kid.

Also, Centennial never move their outside corners to a nickel coverage or inside to matchup with opposing receivers. They gave up everything underneath - and bail on the outside to a deep 3rd - very stupid. There is not a better cover corner in the state than Texada - TCU is getting a good one here. This kid is also a dynamic punt and kick returner.
