DMN: TCU’s Devonte Fields ready to seize more accolades in 2014

“Nothing haunts us like promise unfulfilled.”
 
Those were the prudent words of Michael Wilbon in ESPN’s 30 for 30 documentary Benji. Those wise words speak to the hope that comes with great potential.
 
In Devonte Fields’ 6’4, 250 pound body sits a great deal of potential. So much so that his inchoate body of work through two years at TCU barely scratch the surface of his immense promise.
 
Fields played just one half of one game in the 2013 season, and he received a medical redshirt one year after the media named him Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. That year Fields amassed 18.5 tackles for loss and 10 sacks which were more than any freshman in TCU’s history.
 
Healthy again in 2014, Fields has an opportunity to build upon what was a strong start to his collegiate career. ...
