DMN: North Mesquite four-star receiver Cordale Russell commits to TCU

By Shawn McFarland

Third time is the charm for TCU head coach Sonny Dykes and Cordale Russell.

Russell, a four-star wide receiver at North Mesquite, announced his commitment to TCU — for the second time — on Saturday night.

The 13th-ranked player on The Dallas Morning News’ top 50 recruits list for the class of 2023, Russell had originally committed to SMU in August but decommitted in November after Dykes left for TCU. The 6-2 pass catcher initially committed to TCU on Nov. 29 but decommitted in February.

Cardale? Is he gonna play skool? "We didn't come here (tOSU) to play skool!"

When will they start quoting the NIL payment when a player signs or transfers?

I never want to know the NIL amount. It would become a top this situation. That would be intolerable. I hate that money is the ultimate factor for player’s choices. But then again I was born when just playing for a school was the only real choice. Then all those kids were essentially dumb farm boys and college football was a dream. Jim Swink once told me that when he came to TCU just putting on the jersey was enough to get him to play his heart out.
