Diehards: TCU’s Shawn Robinson, Justin Rogers among top QB battles to watch this spring, per SI

TCU football shouldn’t have any shortage of options when it comes to establishing a go-to signal caller for the upcoming 2018 season.

The Horned Frogs boast two young quarterbacks that were recruited as 4-star prospects in the 247Sports composite rankings. That duo is composed of rising sophomore Shawn Robinson and freshman Justin Rogers — the latter who enrolled early after being recruited as the No. 3 dual threat quarterback in the Class of 2019.

The only question now is who will get the nod once TCU takes the field in Week 1, and it’s bound to be a compelling battle.

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Johnson ranked the quarterback competition in Fort Worth between Robinson and Rogers as one of the most significant quarterback battles this spring across all of college football.

JR is still recovery from his knee injury and is being held out this Spring.

Could a writer at least pick up the phone and ask GP a few questions before writing an article. Attend an open practice?

Makes me laugh because the SI story is wrong like you are saying. Just shows how much Diehards sucks because they just taken other articles and summarizes them. They have zero clue if it is correct info or not

There must be no other QB battles in the country if the battle between the heir apparent and a true freshman being held back from live ammo because of a huge knee injury is one of the biggest.

Maybe they should try and figure out if there will be any non-concussed QBs in Beco town after Mensa’s spring ball practice involves running QBs into brick walls head first to prepare for the fall.

Or maybe they should mention that there actually could be a battle but they didn’t include the other QB involved in it.
If you actually read the article, he did. He even links an older article that quotes Jeremy Clark saying that based on the practice he saw on Sunday, Collins would be the starter right now.

But it was such a stupid way for Dean to lay out an article. The whole primise of his article is the terribly misinformed SI quote, which he then goes on to subtly contradict at the end, despite having a title and laying out the first 2/3 of his article as if the SI quote is accurate.

Extremely poor journalism.

curious what it is like to have a job in which been accurate with the information you provide isn't as important as the amount of crap you turn out. the si article is an embarrassment from a group that at one time was the gold standard or sports journalism in this country

I am guessing it doesn’t pay well - which is why their “journalists” suck so bad
