EAST LANSING -- Michigan State and Texas Christian both played much better defense than offense this season, but the Horned Frogs' offense reminds the Spartans of two teams that had success against them.

Nebraska and Northwestern combined for 51 points in consecutive weeks against MSU (6-6), which will take on TCU (7-5) in Saturday's Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl in Tempe, Ariz. Nebraska won, 28-24, at Spartan Stadium and Northwestern prevailed, 23-20.

"Yeah, you see Northwestern," Mark Dantonio said of the TCU offense, operated by dual-threat redshirt freshman Trevone Boykin. "I think you see that from their passing game sort of and some of the things that they're doing spreading you out. You've got different type of jet sweeps and some misdirection.

"You see a little bit of Nebraska in that, as well, some of the things that they do with their quarterback runs. ... They're their own personality, they're their own football team, but you see a little bit as you watch through the games." ...
