Detroit Free Press: TCU will have hands full with Michigan State's Le'Veon Bell

By Joe Rexrode
Detroit Free Press Sports Writer

EAST LANSING -- Like Michigan State, bowl opponent Texas Christian has one of the top rush defenses in the nation -- the Spartans are eighth (99.6 yards per game) and the Horned Frogs 10th (103.9).

The difference is that TCU doesn't encounter as much straight-ahead, power football as the Spartans do against teams such as Iowa and Wisconsin.

"We don't see as much of the big groupings in the Big 12," said TCU coach Gary Patterson, whose 7-5 team will face 6-6 MSU in the Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl, Dec. 29 in Tempe, Ariz.

And few teams see backs such as Le'Veon Bell -- shifty and powerful at 237 pounds. Patterson didn't need to delve into the film to put him at the top of the scouting report. ...

Lol... We have more meat on the d-line now than we had when old wisconsin tried the whole "downhill running back" act against us. Bring it.

TCU v Texas Christian

Don't know why it matters necessarily... Maybe brand recognition for casual spectators?

Okay. Makes sense I suppose. I thought the comment may have been a request to confine commentary to TCU and to refrain from making comments about or against MSU. Since it followed a post questioning the ability of Detroit-area residents to pay for a newspaper, I thought that might be the direction of the request. FWIW -- I thought questioning the ability to pay was much more benign than questioning the ability to read.

Go Texas Christian University Horned Frogs!

Guys this dude is right. I can't remember a single time in the past, say, three seasons or so where we absolutely stopped a downhiill runner and kept him from absolutely tearing us up.

Oh, and Michigan State would have beaten us in the Rose Bowl.

OH. THE ROSE BOWL. THE GAME WHERE WE STOPPED NOT ONE, NOT TWO, BUT THREE, COUNT 'EM THREE, DYNAMIC RUNNERS AND HELD A TEAM THAT AVERAGED APPROX 6,000 POINTS PER GAME TO 19.

Bell will get between 80-100 yards but that's all that msu really has. Their Offense may run less efficiently than ours.
