Detroit Free Press: Michigan State QB Andrew Maxwell focusing on improving for bowl, next season

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Through the ups and downs in his first season as Michigan State's starting quarterback, Andrew Maxwell has been consistently evasive of the outside chatter.
"I know it's cliché, but I don't read much of it," Maxwell said before Wednesday's practice in preparation for Saturday's Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl against TCU. "The only stuff I hear is when people say, 'Did you hear what (such and such) wrote about you?' So I try to stay away from that, because the minute you start placing your identity about yourself in what someone says, good or bad, well then that's so whimsical and so cyclical that you're really not gonna have a true base."
Saturday's game is big for Maxwell, a chance to finish with a winning record and set himself up for what he hopes is a much better senior season. It also could be a preview of some offensive wrinkles on the way for MSU. ...
