Des Moines Register: Cyclones utilize bye week; injury updates; and TCU's QB situation
A 31-14 loss to Louisiana in Iowa State's season opener left the Cyclones with plenty of questions. An immediate bye week gave them some extra time to try to find some answers.
In a year where the COVID-19 pandemic is changing the way teams prepare, it was a welcome break, even for a team just getting underway.
“We practiced true football with pads, and I think the bye week gave us the ability to just continue to practice the sport of football,” Iowa State coach Matt Campbell said Tuesday. “The big thing for us is, not to say it was another week of fall camp, but it felt like you were continuing to evaluate yourself and continuing to mold yourself as a football team moving forward.”
