Palestine Westwood RB Jon Denman (5'10, 195) committed to TCU over offers from Houston, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Michigan State, and more.

The three-star RB, who recently announced his transfer from Palestine to Palestine Westwood, is rated as the No. 7 RB in Texas.

Scouting Report: Denman is a versatile athlete, excelling in basketball and track, with a 100-meter dash time around 10.7 seconds. His ball skills as both a running back and slot back are impressive, making him a constant threat to turn quick screens or running plays into explosive gains.

Really nice balance. Hard to knock off his feet. That with speed is a great combination.

I am really big on balance. Too often we have had backs who have everything, except balance. Even if they broke free they would fall down. Sewo was a big, strong, tough back who, if a DB met him head-on, that DB would not wake up for at least a quarter. But...hit him from the side and he went down. I have been a big fan of balance ever since I watched Earl Campbell his senior year at Texas ... it looked like he was going down after he broke a tackle, then he would take one BIG step, get his legs under his body, and keep going.

If Denman's balance is as good as it looks on the highlights, and if he has good vision, he could be a great find.

Hard to believe he is just a 3 star. Fluid, quick, yes good balance and looks for the open field. He was great at the goal line too. He could be a DB in that he finds the ball and is not afraid to hit someone. RB do not usually made good DB for this reason. Still you cannot teach his burst and finishing speed. Like him a lot.

I believe Adrian Peterson is from Palestine.
A friend of ours is a retired MD who practiced in Palestine and a UT alum. He swears that a group of UT alumni (including him) in Palestine approached UT head coach Mack Brown and said that AP couldn’t academically succeed in Austin. Who knows if it had any impact or not? My bet is that it didn’t.

Pretty sure UT put the full-court press on him and just lost the battle to OU.

Finally got around to watching his highlights. Seems like a smooth runner, fast and good at shedding tackles. Seems tough. Also seems like he just gets football, mostly based on the fact that he’s excelling on both sides of the ball.

I like it. He's got good hands too, because half of those runs were taken out of Wildcat formation. Welcome to TCU, young man!
